30 Day Challenge Summary

As you read this post, many of you may be saying, “I could never do that” …

Well… I’ll be 50 years old in a couple of months and I would have said the same thing two years ago… YOU WILL NEVER know until you try.

Take away message from this post?

Everyone needs to start exercising today.  Start out at a comfortable level and try to do a little more each day. That is what I did.  Here is a link to Mark Sisson’s core Primal Exercise videos. I urge you to watch them and begin doing them today. :)

It is OVER

FINALLY
…. A REST DAY!!!! Yesterday (3/30/11) was my first ‘rest day’ in March. WHY?

Due to setting goals that were … a true challenge… much more so than I had intended, I have NOT had a rest day until, 3/30/11.   This is certainly NOT primal and NOT intentional, I am glad it’s over and I am back to my regular programming. :)

What was my plan of attack?

Before I get into the meat of this post let me say:

– I never worked out more than an hour total in any one day.

– Many days I worked out 2 – 3 times per day but some days 4-5 times a day.

Typical Day –  3 very intense 15 minute work outs in the morning, around lunch time and again at night.

The shorter workouts allowed me to keep my intensity up, limiting fatigue while maximizing my workout times.  Imagine if I’d done one hour long workout each day… I would have become fatigued, required more rest and water breaks in between exercise sets. My workout efficiency would have suffered and probably would not have achieved many of my goals.

Goal Summary – 5 out of 6 accomplished.

A) Goal of new Personal Record in a physical activity each week. Fail!

I only achieved new Personal Records the first (3) weeks. I did not even attempt new Personal Records in weeks 4 & 5.

B) Goal of 5,000  45 lb Kettle Bell swings, Completed 5,020 DONE!

C) Goal of 5,000 Jumping Jacks, Completed 5,181 DONE!

D) Goal of 5,000 Sit Ups, Completed 5,001, DONE!

E) Goal of 5,000 45 lb Sumo Squats, Completed 5,011 DONE!

F) Goal of 1,000 Push Ups, Completed 1,018 Done!

Closing Notes:    Whew! Glad it’s OVER!!! :)

Exercise provides many benefits to our bodies and our minds. This is true for all but especially true for diabetics.  Exercise is an excellent ‘weapon’ in our fight to control blood sugar and to win the war with DIABETES.
