Asthma and Diabetes

Did you know Asthma and diabetes rates are very similar? Asthma and diabetes rates are both rising.

Is it just me or does it seem that all inflammatory diseases are on the rise? It’s not just Asthma and Diabetes, but Alzheimer’s, Heart Disease,  Irritable Bowel Diseases, Arthritis, etc.

Have you asked the question, “Are the rates of all diseases rising?” … it sure seems that way. Have you ever wondered… “Why?”

Could our high carb, inflammatory, highly processed foods be contributory? I would bet on it. I know from personal experience.

My Asthma and Diabetes

I often mention, before my diabetes diagnosis I suffered from chronic respiratory infections.  I don’t mention this often, but a doctor told me once that he wrote on my chart that I had ‘episodic asthma’.  He stated that he was doing me a favor due to the stigma that can be attached to Asthma. He told me this as he was writing another prescription.  “Thanks Doc.”

I was on inhalers, inhaling hormones and nebulizers using Xopenex and many different prescriptions for narcotic cough ‘medicines’.   On just respiratory issues alone I was feeding Big Pharma and the Medical Industry plenty.

All of my respiratory issues went away on a low inflammatory, low carb paleo diet.  I obtained and maintained normal blood sugars on the same diet as well.

Asthma and Diabetes

This news came out today that …. “Asthma Rates on the Rise” and ‘they’ don’t know why.

“… when one in 12 Americans were told they had the lung disease. The proportion of people of all ages with asthma in the U.S. increased from 7.3% (20.3 million people) in 2001 to 8.2% (24.6 million people) in 2009.”

Wow… that’s a lot people, about the same number of people that have … diabetes.  Hmmmmm.

“Costs are rising too, from $53 billion in 2002 to about $56 billion in 2007, for a 6% increase.”

Well wouldn’t you know IT!  When YOU see ‘cost’ … that’s revenue to someone.  In this case, that represents revenue to the medical industry and Big Pharma.

What is not represented in that number is the income to Monsanto and Pepsico … it takes a lot of grains and junk food to prop up increases like those above.

ASTHMA is rising despite improved air quality… despite reduced cigarette smoking rates.

But in the words of a chieftain with the CDC ….

“While we don’t know the cause of the increase, our top priority is getting people to manage their symptoms better.”

Translation

Yep!!! … they are going to sell you a drug to treat the symptoms, not the disease.

Their TOP PRIORITY is NOT curing the disease or prevention… as they stated, their top priority is ‘managing the symptoms”.

ARGH!

I HOPE you get the message.

Asthma and Diabetes Conclusion

My doctor threatened  to hospitalize me for low oxygen levels in my blood LONG before I was hospitalized for diabetes.  Once my doctor told me  … “if we could peer into my lungs, they looked like hambuger.”

… UGH!

Good NEWS!? Not only do I successfully manage my diabetes, but I also successfully manage my ‘episodic asthma’ using a low carb paleo diet and lifestyle.

Other than a drug for pain following a biking accident, I am completely drug (and insulin) FREE since 2009.

You can check out these two posts regarding my ailments and the drugs I took… including those that were respiratory/lung related.

I Am Not A Doctor

I am not a doctor … I have NO formal medical training.   But I do know this…

I was almost hospitalized several time for low oxygen levels in my blood due to respiratory issues. Bronchitis, “walking pneumonia” were all well known ailments to me. I kept a persistent cough that would easily escalate given the slightest cold or infection.

I also KNOW THIS, the day I began lowering carbs, cutting grains, sugars on this, ‘low carb paleo diet‘ … my episodic asthma vanished. Can it help you? … I would bet on it.

A truly low inflammatory, low carb paleo diet benefits many illnesses. It has certainly helped me successfully mange my diabetes and ‘episodic asthma’.

Reduce Your Blood Sugar the Warrior Way

Below is my personal ‘diabetes care’ manual. It is truly diabetes friendly, not Big Food, Big Pharma and Medical Industry friendly.  Every person who follows my plan improves blood sugar control.  Not coincidentally, each person who follows my diabetes care plan reduces the profits of Big Food, Big Pharma and the Medical Industry.
