American Diabetes Ass's Mission Statement and Results
  • From the ADA website ...

"Our mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes."

How can you fail so miserably ... and still look the people in the eye and beg for money... from diabetics?

Exhibit A :  Blog Post on the 90% failure rate  (I have no doubt the failure rate is much higher)

Exhibit B:  The picture below is only through 2005.  Also note that the growth rate has more than doubled from '95 to '05.

Tell me ... with the absolute and utter failure of the American Diabetes Association (and the American Ass. of Diabetes Educators), they are a disgrace.

No one should listen to their advice... and we should all spread this word... today.

  • Okay, so in 2005 there were approximately 14,473,00 diabetics. One Touch Ultra test strips are $33 for one vial of 100 (today's prices). Testing 5 times per day, you'll need roughly 150 test strips each month (1.5 vials).

    14,473,000 diabetics x 1.5 vials per month x 12 months x $49 each month = $12,765,186,000.00 per year in 2005.

I've never been accused of being a great mathmetician, so someone please check my math here. But that's $12.7 billion back in 2005 just for test strips. We are a very profitable and ever-increasing revenue source, aren't we?

  • "We are a very profitable and ever-increasing revenue source, aren't we?"

Indeed we are Steve... not sure what they call 'us' now.  But when I was in college we would have been called a 'cash cow' ...

I also know that diabetes advertisements are very lucrative... drug companies and supply vendors know that once they get you 'hooked'... you are typically a 'customer' for life.  :(

  • you are typically a 'customer' for life.  :(
