Story Update: Type 2… and much more.

Hey!

Do you know who this is?

Her face and story has been widely reported and published in major leading newspapers.

This is Karen Gale. :)

This is an updated story … two years after the original post.  See… if I can do it….and if SHE can do it…

YOU CAN DO IT … TOO!!!

Her story in her own words…

It’s been two years since Steve shared his primal journey with me and my life has been on an “up swing” every since!  As you can read in the previous story,

“I suffered with Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, triglycerides, migraines, allergies, acid reflux and high blood pressure; 10 prescription meds a day!”

Since the last update, I’ve bounced from one specialist to another, endocrinologist, cardiologist and then finally, a lipid specialist, all insisting on running the standard series of lipid panels and then pull out the script pad to offer more statins. During this time, I struggled with back pain.

I made the decision to take a two week break from the statins to see if it would help. Within two days, all pain had disappeared; I knew right then, I’d NEVER take statins again.  It was the lipid specialist who was willing to work with my lifestyle, and agreed to run a more detailed panel through Berkley Labs and an NMR, which breaks down the LDL numbers and buoyancy.

He was CONVINCED he would find something wrong with the blood work. I’m THRILLED to say, those numbers came back GREAT.

Once again, he pulled out his pad to right a script for a “mild” dose of statins, EVEN with great numbers … because diabetics are candidates for heart disease. I told him to keep the script!

Along with removing grains, gluten and legumes and eating 50 or less grams of carbs a day, I incorporated exercise in my weekly schedule. I started as a “couch potato”, and gradually increased
my personal challenges. I NEVER dreamed I’d be participating in 5Ks, cycling to work, weight lifting and participating in many other exercises. If you haven’t check out your local YMCA, do so!! They have been EXTREMELY supportive in my journey.

Living primally has dramatically changed my life for the better. Along with blood glucose numbers in normal ranges (non-diabetic) and GREAT blood work, I’ve reaped the benefits of a 30 lb weight loss, size 16-18 to a size 6 (height: 5’8”)!! I have been released from the lipid specialist back to my family practitioner, with the recommendation of a yearly checkup instead of quarterly and, most importantly …
I AM DRUG AND INSULIN FREE!!!
Karen Gale's Before and After Picture

No two people are the same; my journey has taken longer than some, but did happen.  It has taken a lot of patience, willpower and even a few tears as my body healed itself of the inflammations.

I cannot say enough positives about my friend, Steve Cooksey as he offered his knowledge, encouragement and inspired me with his journey … along with the occasional PUSH <kick> into the right direction!!! It’s because of Steve that I’ve gained control of my life; there are not enough words to express my gratitude.

I LOVE my NEW life, and can’t imagine living any other way. If you are not eating primally, I encourage you to give it a try … it could be life changing!

Summary:

Thanks for allowing me to share your two year update.  :)  You are an inspiration and motivator to many… including me.

I just wish…and hope that more people would see your results and see that it can be them too.

If we can do it… they can too. :)

Keep on THRIVING!!!! …and not just surviving! :)
