A Little Rebellion


Since being diagnosed with diabetes in 2009, the Thomas Jefferson quote, “I hold it that a little rebellion, now and then, is a good thing…”, comes to mind.

After a diabetes diagnosis, I learned that almost EVERYTHING diabetics were told regarding diet and nutrition was wrong! Then I realized that much of the nutrition and dietary guidance for all of us was wrong. I rebelled and so should you!

If the medical industry (including the American Diabetes Association) would lie to and mislead diabetics for profit (and they do), what other lies and deceptions have ‘we the people’ been told? I began to question everything, every thing.

 

Open Your Eyes

Think about this. Diabetes is a disease of elevated blood sugars or hyperglycemia. Elevated blood sugars are harmful to every cell in the body and cause a host of health issues including neuropathy, retinopathy, heart disease, kidney disease, etc.

Yet, the medical industry and the American Diabetes Association promotes a diabetes diet that SPIKES blood sugars? It makes absolutely no sense… if their intent was to benefit diabetics.

If Big Food, Big Pharma and the Medical Industry will lie to diabetics for profit (and they do), if ‘they’ will distort the truth while young Type 1’s and elderly Type 2’s suffer needlessly (and they do), then ‘they’ will lie to any of us for profit and greed.

Fact: 100’s of millions suffer needlessly, while a relative few profit. Millions are told diabetes is a debilitating disease, it doesn’t have to be. There is a better way.

 

Diabetes Rebellion

After a diabetes diagnosis, I soon discovered the medical industry’s diabetes care advice was actually harming diabetics.  The diabetes protocols keep diabetics on an ever-increasing amount of drugs, insulin and medical industry services.

Only Big Food, Big Pharma and the Medical Industry benefit from the standard diabetes protocols… certainly not diabetics. Once I realized ‘the system’ was designed to create profits for large corporations … I wondered what other lies ‘we the people’ had been told.

I rebelled against the diabetes care advice the Medical Industry was ‘serving’, and began following a ‘low carb paleo‘ meal plan in 2009. Not only did I wean off of ALL  drugs, insulin, and medical industry services, I have maintained truly normal blood sugars. :)

Do you really think Big Food, Big Pharma and the Medical Industry want the approximately 27 million type 2 diabetics to wean off ALL drugs, ALL insulin, ALL processed foods and ALL medical industry services? Really?

 

Lies for Profit

After my diabetes diagnosis, I began to read and research everything I could find on diet and nutrition. As I said earlier, if children and the elderly with diabetes are lied to, there has to be more.

I discovered many lies, including:

  • we need to eat grain for fiber
  • we need at least 25 grams of fiber per day
  • we need to eat 7-11 servings of grains per day
  • we need to eat 4-6 small meals a day, with 45-60 grams of carbs per meal
  • we need a minimum of 120 grams of carbohydrates per day for brain function alone
  • we need to drink juice daily
  • we need to drink milk daily

All of the lies above are harmful but perhaps the worst of the worst?

  • diabetes is hereditary or genetic, nothing you can do about it
  • diabetes is a debilitating disease

On and on the lies go… oddly enough, all of the lies benefit Big Food, Big Pharma and the Medical Industry.

 

Nutritional Rebellion

There has been a nutritional rebellion in recent years, as people move from highly processed foods to more ‘real foods’. People have been rebelling with their wallets and pocket books. Big Food is listening.

Signs:

  • Bread sales are down!
  • Margarine sales are down, while butter sales are UP!
  • Cereal sales are down!
  • Soda sales are down!
  • Even some Walmart stores are selling virgin coconut oil, grass-fed meats and grass-fed Kerry Gold butter!

 

Beware: Food companies are attempting to profit off of the changes in food choices. Foods being marketed as ‘low carb’, ‘paleo’, and ‘gluten free’ are often no better or only marginally better than the standard products. It’s why I primarily eat only fatty meats, veggies, eggs, butter and coconut oil. with occasional nuts and berries.

 

As Mr. Jefferson said best,

“…let the eye of vigilance never be closed.”

 

Political Rebellion

Love him or hate him …  Donald Trump’s election signified a political rebellion. I personally don’t care for him but I hope he is successful in ‘draining the swamp’.

Just as greed and the lust for power has corrupted our nutritional and healthcare systems, it too has corrupted our political system in the US and around the world.

 

As I noted in a Facebook post the other day,

“I have a dream where greed and the lust for power are subjugated for the common good of all people.”

 

Yes I think Mr. Jefferson had it right, a little revolution every now and then can be a good thing. Will it? Time will tell.
